Lyle Weichel: CEO, Director & Alternative Energy Engineer
Lyle Weichel co-founded WestSource Energy Inc, the first of the WestSource companies in January, 2006. A graduate of Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of Regina, Lyle brings experiences from the energy, infrastructure and IT industries having previously worked for Shell, SaskTel, and SaskPower in Calgary, Fort McMurray and Regina.
Responsibilities Include: overall business and employee management, business development, research and development, Montmartre Wind Project development activities, system design and quoting, and project management.
Rob Olson, Engineer-in-Training: Alternative Energy Engineer
Rob Olson joined the WestSource team in late 2008 and was instrumentatal in the launch of the company’s distributed power generation solutions – namely grid tied wind and solar solutions. A graduate of the Industrial Systems Engineering program from the University of Regina, Rob provides engineering knowledge and experience gained from pior work at the professional firms of Stantec and Kodiak Engineering.
Responsibilities Include: grid interconnection studies, Nav Canada and Transport Canada approvals, drafting, system design, helical anchor (screw pile) foundation design, contractor management, field support, and research & development.
Sara Czerwonka: Finance & SCM Manager
Sara Czerwonka joined the WestSource team in early 2009 and has been instrumental in the successful ISO 9001 Certification for WestSource. Sara currently attends the University of Regina part-time working towards her Diploma in Business Administration. Sara provides WestSource with service industry experience gained with several optical companies as well as the Government of Saskatchewan.
Responsibilities Include: finance management, accounts payable and receivable, supplier and contractor management, marketing and tradeshows, general enquiries, and office management.
Kari Gutzke: Projects & Customer Relationship Manager
Kari Gutzke joined the WestSource team in fall 2010 and was key to developing and maintaining customer relationships and the effective and timely delivery of simply green projects. Kari joins the WestSource team following years of experience of owning and operating her own, successful business venture in Alberta.
Responsibilities Include: project co-ordination and resource scheduling, contractor co-ordination, customer relationship management, and liason with key system and component suppliers.
Tyler Weichel: Wind Turbine & Solar Technician
Tyler Weichel joined the WestSource team on a part time basis in mid 2009. Tyler was key in the prototyping of our stand along control cabinets for our distributed wind and solar systems. Following completion of his Wind Turbine Technician certification from Lethbridge College, Tyler now works for WestSource fulltime. Tyler brings to the team his knowledge and interest in electrical systems and innovation.
Responsibilities Include: solar and wind turbine system design, solar and wind turbine technician, tower climbing, operational support, field support, and research & development.
Michael Weichel: Operator and Technician
Michael Weichel joined the WestSource team full time in mid 2009. Michael was key in the selection and ongoing maintenance of the heavy equipment required for the construction and maintenance of our small scale wind and solar systems. Obtaining his 1A driver’s licence in 2010, Michael quickly moved into the lead role of equipment operator for our construction projects.
Responsibilities Include: field technician, operational support, equipment operator, transport and shipping, field support and assistance of research and development activities.
Harvey Weichel: Equipment and Inventory Management
Harvey Weichel has supported key WestSource projects since the infancy of the company with the installation of our first tilt up meteorological tower. Harvey provides the team with years of farming and related agricultural activities which includes hands on, construction, and equipment maintenance experience.
Responsibilities Include: inventory management, equipment and tool management, special projects assistance and labour, and shop support.
Joel Kempfer, BZEE: Wind Turbine Technician
Joel Kempfer joined the WestSource team in mid 2011 and was key in the successful implementation of the SaskPower Wind for Rinks Self Generation project. A BZEE certified wind turbine technician from Lethbridge College, Joel brings to the team a unique real word experience working on mega watt scale wind turbines for projects such as the Red Lily Wind farm near Moosomin.
Responsibilities Include: wind turbine technician, tower climbing, operational support and field support.
